Department Information Systems
Information systems are at the heart and soul of contemporary organizations in a global, rapidly changing economy. A world without information systems is now all but unthinkable: All major organizations manage their processes through enterprise systems, our private and professional communication has changed dramatically because of emergent mobile technologies and social media platforms, and information systems have enabled countless complementary innovations that affect our life and work every day.
Information systems are socio-technical systems that use information technology to store, process, and transmit information. Research and teaching in this area are concerned with the design, implementation, and use of information systems, as well as these systems’ role in innovating and transforming businesses. The Institute of Information Systems collaborates closely with local industry and society and research partners around the globe to put scientific results into practice.
