Department Finance & Economics
The Department of Finance & Economics addresses the central questions and challenges of Liechtenstein's financial sector, thereby supporting the mission of the Liechtenstein Business School to enhance Liechtenstein's competitiveness through forward-looking and significant academic offerings.
We actively conduct research in current areas of finance and base our other performance areas on these latest scientific findings. Our department offers comprehensive services in the areas of teaching, research, transfer, and further education. We place special emphasis on the following subject areas:
- Financial Economics (Asst. Prof. Stöckl)
- Innovative & Digital Finance (Assoc. Prof. Angerer)
- Risk Management & Pension Finance (Prof. Hanke)
- Sustainable Finance and Investments (Prof. Menichetti)
Our research results are regularly published in renowned scientific journals, and we represent the university at international conferences. Each subject area is supported by a dedicated team of doctoral students.
In terms of teaching and further education, we are primarily responsible for the Master's program in Finance (MSc), and we are actively engaged in the Bachelor's programs in Business Administration as well as in the PhD program in Business Economics. Our continuing education offering is tailored to the needs of the local financial market and currently includes programs in the areas of Innovative Finance (particularly Blockchain and FinTech) and Sustainable Finance.
A special focus is on conducting transfer projects in collaboration with partners from the business and political sectors. These projects are often carried out in international cooperation and are supported by significant funding programs such as InnoSuisse, Erasmus+, or IBH. In addition, the department houses the Innovative Finance Lab and the Youth Green Finance Initiative.
