Master's degree programme in Banking and Financial Management (01.10.2008)

Description

Most work in banking coursework focuses on the overall management of a commercial bank. Based on the lecturer's experience bank professionals first establish their reputation in one or more bank functions before advancing to bank management level. Furthermore students are also expected to work in more specialized “banks.” Therefore, the focus of this session is on developing a practical approach to integrating the following analytical functions within a broadly defined banking organization.

Functions:

  • 1. Credit analyst in the commercial lending division
  • 2. Investment banking analyst in the external financing division
  • 3. Security analyst in portfolio management division

Learning Outcomes

Integrated Approach: Students will spend three days examining cases that will require application of the cash flow approach in each of the functions. Based on this analysis, the assigned project will applying the cash flow methodology in the examination of an actual company financing decision from each of the above perspectives.

Long term goal: While spending a short time together with the lecturer, declared goal is to develop a format for thinking on issues/transactions that will require the above banking expertise.
