As part of an Educational Journey, students from the Master Information Systems programme travelled to Sophia Antipolis on the French Riviera. There, they gained valuable insights into international companies, current technology trends, and the exchange between academia and industry.

During my exchange in Liechtenstein, one of the cultural aspects that has surprised me the most is punctuality and the different meal schedules people follow here. At first, these may seem like small details of everyday life, but after spending some time here, I realised that they reflect deeper cultural attitudes towards time, organisation and respect for others.

When I arrived in Venice, it wasn’t my first time in this city. I had visited several times before. Yet every arrival still feels special, after the long train ride, stepping out of Santa Lucia station and suddenly seeing Venice open up across the Grand Canal is always a striking moment.

In her research, architecture student Carola Mayerhoffer examines how sensory stimuli interact within spaces and can generate strain. Based on this, she develops approaches for a more inclusive architecture.

Today, in the construction industry, we constantly talk about how we want to build in the future. Often, the focus is on being sustainable, building simply, and remaining affordable. And yet, with sustainable intentions, we demolish and build anew, using materials such as timber and clay. But is that really the ultimate answer?

When I applied for a semester exchange in Liechtenstein way back in February 2025, I did so on the recommendation of my best friend Connor, who took part in it in 2024. I applied, signed the papers, and waited for a response without really knowing anything about the country except the praise it had received from Connor.

I am currently living in Vaduz, in the student dormitories of the University of Liechtenstein. Before coming here, I had many expectations about what life would look like. The main thing I imagined was snow everywhere. I thought that when I arrived, the whole city would be completely covered in snow. 

My first view of Norway was from the sky, where the world below looked almost unreal blanketed in frost and snow, covered in white powder that made everything feel quiet, untouched, and entirely new, it looked like something out of a postcard.
