200th anniversary of the ABGB in Liechtenstein

Festive reception at the University of Liechtenstein to mark the occasion of the anniversary
Last year, the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB) celebrated its 200th anniversary. As Liechtenstein implemented most of the ABGB’s content one year after Austria, on 18 February 1812, the principality celebrates this anniversary in 2012. In the scope of this festive event, the speakers are dedicating their presentations to the origins and developments of the ABGB in Liechtenstein, with particular focus on current developments in inheritance law. The event will be held on Wednesday, 28 March 2012, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the University of Liechtenstein’s auditorium. Entry is free; registration at www.uni.li is required.

A journey through the ABGB’s history
Following a welcome address by Professor Francesco A. Schurr, who holds the Chair of Company, Foundation and Trust Law at the University of Liechtenstein, Dr. Aurelia Frick, Minister of Justice, and Uwe Öhri , President of the Association of Liechtenstein Judges, will offer their introductory statements. Dr. Mario Frick, President of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Lawyers, will take you on a journey through the Liechtenstein ABGB in his speech entitled “Deviations from the draft law ”. The address on current questions regarding the reforms in inheritance law will be delivered by university professor Bernhard Eccher, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Innsbruck. In the scope of the following panel discussion on the topic of “Inheritance law in the ABGB – past, present and future”, the speakers will explore the topic in more depth with the audience, discussing it with Mag. iur. Sabine Mohr-Egger from the law office Dr. Dr. Batliner & Dr. Gasser, Dr. Robert Schneider from the law firm Marxer & Partner as well as university lecturer Dr. Manfred Umlauft, Vice-President of the Notarial Chambers of Tirol and Vorarlberg. At the subsequent drinks reception, attendees and speakers have the opportunity to exchange ideas.
