How new Technologies are Changing the Carpentry Trade

The carpentry trade is undergoing constant change. Digitalization and CNC-controlled joinery robots offer enormous potential for speed and accuracy in the creation of complex structures in timber construction.

These factors are changing conventional methods and traditional craftsmanship, as digital tools are bringing new work processes with them and knowledge previously taught in training and tried-and-tested procedures in professional practice are taking on a different significance.
Dipl.-Ing. Dr. sc. Wolfgang Schwarzmann, Liechtenstein School of Architecture, Architecture and Planning, provided answers to the questions many craftspeople have about their current and future role at the "Holz Handwerk 2024" trade fair in Nuremberg.
