The University of Liechtenstein is taking issues with claims voiced in the Landtag (the Liechtenstein Parliament) on Thursday that the numbers of students submitted to the government were wrong. The discrepancies can be explained by the differing requirements of the Statistics Office, the register of students submitted to the government and the university’s Annual Report.
Correct figures
Both in its public Annual Reports and in its notifications to the Statistics Office and the government, the University of Liechtenstein has always shown the numbers of its students correctly and transparently. The different figures resulted from the different requirements of the state administration and the different key dates. ‘Since the new performance agreement of 1 January 2014 we have been declaring student numbers consistently as at the key date of 15 November,’ says Rector Klaus Näscher.
Future prospects
At the government’s request, the University Council is currently working on its report to the government. This will show the development of student numbers and highlight possible measures with a view to increasing them. As agreed, this report will be submitted to the government by the end of March. After the government has taken note of it, the report will be presented at a media briefing in the 16th calendar week.
