Successful cooperation: In the scope of the Master’s degree programme in Business Process Management, the Institute of Information Systems realized practical projects with Hilti AG and the HPZ curative education centre of the Principality of Liechtenstein again this winter semester. The results will now be presented to the public.

With Hilti AG and the HPZ curative education centre, two very different Liechtenstein companies have offered to cooperate with the University of Liechtenstein. For four months, groups of approximately 20 students analysed current topics of the two companies, and worked on specific measures in the area of business process management. The practical projects with regional partner companies are carried out repeatedly by the Institute of Information Systems, and are appreciated both by the students and the companies involved. The practice-oriented project results are generally implemented by the companies, and are a positive example of the successful knowledge transfer from the University of Liechtenstein to different regional sectors. The results of the 2011 practical projects will be presented at the University of Liechtenstein, Vaduz, in late January. On Thursday, 26 January 2012, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the results from the cooperation with Hilti AG will be revealed, and on Friday, 27 January 2012, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the results from the cooperation with the HPZ will be discussed.

Evaluation of innovative technologies for Hilti AG
Under the guidance of Professor Jan vom Brocke, Head of the Institute of Information Systems, a group of third-semester students explored business processes of Hilti AG. The project’s participants worked on specific applications for the implementation of a new and innovative technology in the field of resource planning, with which data can be processed at a speed previously unheard-of. The technologies now available open up unprecedented possibilities. The propositions made by the students of the University of Liechtenstein will then be evaluated, and implemented by Hilti AG as far as possible.

Interesting processes for both sides
In cooperation between the HPZ and first-semester students, specific processes were developed for requirements in business process management of the curative education centre. The final presentation will offer insights into the students’ working methods, the specific assignment by the HPZ, and the project’s results. Toni Böckle from the HPZ curative education centre had very positive things to say about the cooperation: “The practical projects are a very interesting process, as the students also contribute an element of curiosity. Their fresh perspectives offer many new insights into your own company.”
