The Liechtenstein School of Architecture warmly congratulates its Lecturers in Practice, Timothy Allen and Ronan Crippa, on receiving the Student Award at the Prix SIA 2026. The award was presented for the project Gässli 5 in Grabs, realised by the architectural practice Allen + Crippa in collaboration with an interdisciplinary project team. The award ceremony took place on 11 June 2026 at the Théâtre Équilibre in Fribourg.

Through the Prix SIA, the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) recognises projects that contribute to the sustainable development of Switzerland's built environment through a strong commitment to building culture. The Student Award is presented by an interdisciplinary jury of students from architecture, civil engineering and social work. Their assessment is based on the criteria of the Davos Baukultur Quality System.

The student jury described «Gässli 5» as «an impressive example of preserving historic buildings and social networks in a rural setting».

For Timothy Allen and Ronan Crippa, dialogue with the local community lies at the heart of the project: «You have to be there and speak with the people. Only over time did the local residents accept the project and make it their own.»

Timothy Allen and Ronan Crippa teach as Lecturers in Practice at the Liechtenstein School of Architecture. The award recognises their shared approach to developing architecture through close engagement with both place and community.
