The ZirkuLIE platform for circular and sustainable construction in Liechtenstein is continuing its work as an independent, non profit association following three years of development. Its aim is to establish circular economy principles in the construction sector for the long term and to further strengthen collaboration between the construction industry, planning, crafts, research and policy.

Since 2023, the development of ZirkuLIE has been supported and accompanied by the Stiftung Lebenswertes Liechtenstein. With the establishment of the association, the initiative now has a permanent organisational structure. Among other activities, the association operates the Centre for Circular Construction (ZZB) at the Swarovski site in Triesen, including a building component exchange, and promotes the reuse of building components and the resource conscious use of the existing building stock.

Prof. Dr Daniel Stockhammer from the Liechtenstein School of Architecture has also joined the association’s board. As Professor of Built Heritage & Circularity and Academic Director of the doctoral programme at the University of Liechtenstein, he contributes his expertise in upcycling and circular construction. His involvement also strengthens the exchange between research, teaching and construction practice.
