Project Description
The module International Accounting Standards addresses fundamental issues in international accounting, with a particular focus on the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
The module introduces the objectives, structure and key concepts of IFRS and explains their relevance for external corporate reporting. The focus is on the basic principles of international accounting, the components of IFRS financial statements, and selected recognition, measurement and disclosure issues.
The course content is applied through practice-oriented examples, case studies and exercises. This enables students to gradually develop the ability to analyse and solve typical issues in IFRS accounting.
Key topics include the objectives and conceptual framework of IFRS, the components of IFRS financial statements, recognition and measurement principles, the presentation of the statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income and notes, selected standards relating to assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses, as well as differences between national accounting rules and international accounting under IFRS.
