Project Description
The "Office Automation" module deals with fundamental issues of business information processing, in particular using the example of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The course uses a case-based approach.
The main learning content includes operational document management, basics of data management and web development, word processing, IT-supported project management and basics of programming (using Visual Basic for Applications as an example)

Professional Competence
  • name the most important approaches of information and document management, handling of projects and data management and know selected basics of programming
  • explain the functionality and interaction of different methods and applications in these areas
  • solve simple business problems of information processing with the help of these applications and methods
  • identify and evaluate the methods and approaches suitable for solving these tasks and determine the IT applications required for this
  • combine different methods and applications to - - - solve the tasks in a goal-oriented and correct manner
  • evaluate the usefulness of their solutions for different business situations.
Methodological Competence
  • illustrate - using the example of a fictitious medium-sized company - the methods and applications covered in the lecture
  • discuss the problems described in the case study against the background of the methods and applications covered in the lecture
  • apply various methods and applications to solve the case study tasks in a target-oriented and correct manner
  • identify potential for improvement for the case study company, that can be realized by using the applications and methods covered
  • develop a holistic application concept for the case study company in which the software products and methods covered are combined
  • evaluate different solution approaches for the case study company and select a suitable work concept based on various criteria.
Social Competence
  • listen to their fellow students and work attentively to their fellow students to develop a solution. listen carefully to their fellow students
  • work together in groups to solve the case study tasks, communicate as a team and help each other
  • assess themselves and their teamwork in terms of cooperation, communication and conflict resolution skills and take responsibility for the presentation
  • develop their social skills when solving the tasks in the exercise and adapt these skills to optimize joint teamwork
  • support their team members when presenting the results and justify their approach when working together on the exercises.
