Recognition of extracurricular engagement

Campus Credits enable students to have extracurricular engagement at the University of Liechtenstein recognised as part of their studies. They recognise engagement in which students take on responsibility, actively contribute to the university community and, in particular, develop organisational and social skills, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.

Campus Credits can be earned for unpaid activities

  • in university self-administration or student representation,
  • in organisations, associations or clubs affiliated with the University of Liechtenstein,
  • as part of university-wide projects,
  • in working groups,
  • at events, or
  • as part of university initiatives.

The activity must contribute to the development of key competences, and the work performed must be individually attributable to the respective student.

1. Agree on the activity

Before starting the activity, a written agreement must be concluded with the University of Liechtenstein. The agreement specifies the activity, the period, the planned number of hours and a coordinating person.

2. Carry out the activity and document your hours

During the activity, the hours worked must be documented on an ongoing basis. The student must report to the coordinating person on the progress of the activity at least twice per semester.

3. Complete the activity

After completing the activity, the student submits the record of hours (timesheet) and an individual final report to the coordinating person. The final report should, in particular, reflect on the tasks undertaken, the experiences gained and the competences developed.

4. Have the Campus Credits recognised

The coordinating person confirms the proper completion of the activity and recommends recognition. Recognition is granted by the Director of Studies.

Campus Credits are generally recognised in the area of interdisciplinary elective modules (IDM). 3 Campus Credits are required for the recognition of one interdisciplinary elective module. Individual Campus Credits can be collected and accumulated throughout the degree programme.

As a general rule, the agreement must be concluded before the activity begins. Agreements concluded retrospectively are only permitted in justified exceptional cases.

One Campus Credit corresponds to a workload of 30 hours. A maximum of 9 Campus Credits can be recognised during a Bachelor's degree programme and 6 Campus Credits during a Master's degree programme.

Campus Credits are not graded.
