Recording and evaluation of Re-use building components. Development of an assessment methodology
Project Description
The reuse of building components is becoming increasingly important in the construction industry to reduce resource consumption and CO? emissions. Despite regulatory and technological advancements, there is a lack of standardized methods for systematically capturing, evaluating, and integrating reusable components into new construction projects. This research develops a methodology for the digital recording and automated assessment of re-use components, considering material properties and life cycle analysis. Using Artificial Intelligence, components are classified, their reuse potential is determined, and economic as well as ecological benefits are quantified. Additionally, a certification system for CO? savings is developed to create incentives for builders and investors. By linking digitalization, sustainability, and construction economics, this research makes a significant contribution to promoting the circular economy and decarbonizing the construction sector.
