Great success for female graduates of the Master's program in Architecture at YTAA

The "Young Talent Architecture Award" (YTAA) is considered part of the "European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award", which the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, together with the European Union, the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) and the Council of Architects of Europe (ACE-CAE), announces every two years. It is one of the most prestigious prizes for students of architecture.

The YTAA promotes young, talented graduates in the field of architecture, urban and landscape planning who will be responsible for the transformation of their environment in the future and is considered one of the most important European prizes for the promotion of young talents. From the 382 projects submitted by 155 schools, 43 projects were shortlisted, from which twelve finalists were selected.

The jury members of YTAA 2020 are: Chairmen Martine de Maeseneer (Brussels), Oleg Drozdov (Kharkiv), Rosario Talevi (Berlin), Juliet Leach (London) and Bet Capdeferro (Girona).

They highlighted the outstanding quality of all the nominees and, due to Covid-19, met online several times before a decision was made on the finalists.

Preliminary and finalists

Both submissions by the graduates Nina Beck and Natalia Podejko of the Master's program in Architecture at the University of Liechtenstein made it into the pre-selection, and Natalia Podejko's Master's project was even selected by the international jury as one of the best twelve.
Even though Natalia Podjejko did not make it into the top four at the online award ceremony, it is a great honour for the two young architects to have made it this far into the field of the best young architects.

An exhibition of the 43 pre-selected projects and a repeat of the festive ceremony of the winning projects is planned for the 2021 Architecture Biennale in Venice.
