This week, the University of Liechtenstein welcomed Dr. Vaalmikki Arjoon as a visiting lecturer. He teaches finance, economics, and statistics at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.

The university works closely with the University of Liechtenstein as part of the “Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program.” Previously, Dr. Arjoon taught at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and at its campus in China.

Dr. Arjoon brings a wealth of practical experience to Liechtenstein. He advises several financial institutions in the Caribbean region and is a consultant with the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank. In addition, as a sought-after expert, he regularly provides media commentary on current economic issues. His international network is also reflected in his membership in renowned professional associations such as the Royal Economic Society, the Leverhulme Institute for Globalization and Economic Policy, and the Western Economics Association.

While in Liechtenstein, Dr. Arjoon took the opportunity to engage in an in-depth exchange with professors, lecturers, and doctoral candidates. Important common ground quickly emerged, particularly regarding pension funding. Off campus, he also met with representatives from the Landesbank and LGT Capital Management to discuss current banking issues.

The direct exchange provided both sides with valuable insights. Initial concrete ideas for future collaboration have already been identified and will now be pursued further.
