Roope Jaakonmäki - On Sunday 27th of October an international group of students woke up relatively early to participate in a beautiful hike between the mountains of Liechtenstein. Legendary professor Hilti offered this great opportunity and showed us the way while telling stories about the nature and history of Liechtenstein.

The day started with a great adventure for some of the group, because of over-punctual busses of Liechtenstein. So these, not so punctual students had to run faster than the wind and practice some hitchhiking in order to catch the next bus and stick to the planned time schedule. After professor Hilti’s interesting storytelling moment about the first inhabitants of Liechtenstein, and only half an hour behind the plan the group was unite and the autumn hike could begin.

During the hike the group walked along Saminatal River surrounded by all the colors of autumn and very versatile nature. The weather was really warm and the sun was blessing us along the way. In the middle point professor Hilti made a fire and students had an opportunity to have a barbecue on the bottom of the river. After eating, barbequing sausages and chocolate banana specialty the hike continued on the bottom of the river jumping over (and in) to the streams.

At some point of the hike, the trail lead the energetic group to Saminatal waterfall. Even though the water was super clear and tempting, no-one took a swim under the waterfall… Maybe next time. Eventually six hours later, the group has wandered over 16 (maybe even over 20) kilometers and also passed through small and cute farmer village of Amerlügen, the Sunday journey ended in Tisis or for some in the tasty kebab restaurants of Feldkirch. What a lovely way to spend a day with friends and have some serious muscle exercise!
