Ziele

The module Courses Design Theory I seeks to establish the theoretical foundations for the concentration Design Theory.
The topics for the first semester center on issues regarding the theoretical planning and construction of space proper considering notions such as typology, morphology and style; the discussion of the historical emergence of the concept of 'architectural' space as a product of social constructivist processes, considering the impact of ideological, political, and ecomical forces; an introduction to the fundamental aspects of processes of perception that enable occupants of architectural spaces to mentally construct a representation of these spaces.

The aim is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and intellectual instruments to approach the problems discussed in the design project studios.
