Beschreibung

Each lecture examines one representational technique from its origins to its contemporary application. They will range from the emergence of drawing as an empirical instrument to more abstract representations in form of prints and paintings. Further, the use of photography, cinematography as well as collages and montages as mass media are examined. The role of text and graphics in architecture will be discussed before examining the notions of interface, interactivity and diagram in the context of architectural design, mediation and production.
This term, special attention will be paid to architectural magazines and their influence on architectural production in the second half of the 20th century. Through analysis of content and appearance we will try to contextualise the findings into today's architectural debate through our own magazine.
